There is an increasing public awareness relating to the use of pesticides and the presence of residues on foodstuffs. Also, developments in the agrochemical sector mean constant changes in the plant protection agents used in the production of fresh produce.
Food retailers are now demanding increasingly high levels of accuracy in data produced, but testing foodstuffs for pesticide residues is a complex analytical process.
NRM Ltd, in conjunction with a specialist pesticide testing facility, is now able to provide a UKAS accredited GC-MS multi residue pesticide screen on fresh produce and associated products as well as in soil and water.
The screen includes a wide range of pesticide classes that are commonly used on fresh produce including: organonitrogens, organophosphates, organochlorines, carbamates, pyrethroids, triazoles, dithiocarbamates, and nitrates. NRM also offers a second LCMS screen containing some of the more challenging compounds.
Cutting edge technology enables 200 compounds to be detected and quantified with a high degree of analytical certainty. It can also identify a further 400 compounds as part of a qualitative screen.
