Waste to Land

Today, increasing controls are being put on the use of waste products on agricultural land.  Analysis of the waste product itself, and the land to which it is applied, is critical in preparing documentation required to allow the recycling of waste to land.

By using manures and slurry on agricultural land, fertiliser costs can be reduced, the quality of crops improved and valuable organic matter can be added to the soil.  This all means reduced costs and higher profits for the farmer.

NRM can provide analysis of a wide range of waste products including:
biosolids; food and drink residues; animal by-products; canal dredging; water treatment sludge; lime; green waste; paper sludge and compost.  Whilst the land to which the waste is applied can be analysed for: pH, phosphorus (P), potassium (K) and magnesium (Mg).

Composting

Composting waste is the aerobic processing of biologically degradable organic waste to produce a stable granular material which contains valuable plant nutrients. Compost helps to improve soil structure and enrich the nutrient content of the soil.

As a result of the Landfill Directive and the Quality Compost Protocol there is now an increasing interest in composting and NRM, which is a Composting Association approved laboratory, can provide analysis of composted waste under the Composting Association BSI PAS 100 Certification Scheme.

  1. BSI PAS 100 Composting Association approved testing laboratory;
  2. Provision of analysis for all areas of the waste sector;
  3. Bespoke reports including recommendations for Beneficial Statements;
  4. Analysis helps reduce the environmental risk of pollution which could arise from applying waste and compost to land.
